Your Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

This position participates in surveillance activities related to reported lab results for sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The incumbent acts as a liaison with hospitals, clinics, and the state Division of Disease Control and Health Protection.

  • Conduct interviews, provide partner services, performs field investigations, PREP, NPEP, Test and Treat navigation and field testing for Syphilis and HIV, or other bacterial, biological, or viral agents.

  • Complete reports, analyze data, and perform case management activities as directed in the process of identifying individuals infected with a STD, HIV/AIDS, or other bacterial, biological and/or viral agents. These activities will include but not be limited to case discussions, work prioritization, records documentation, case management, interviewing, visual case analysis and documentation of activities in the STARS database.

  • This position will require developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with health care providers, including hospitals, clinics, and physicians within the county. This person will be responsible for determining methods to analyze surveillance data in a timely manner to identify detection of possible disease outbreaks. Participates in the development of policies and procedures for the STD Program and ensures they are implemented and updated as needed.

  • Works in collaboration with hospitals, community-based organizations (CBO), and community providers to follow-up on cases that need prophylaxis. Provides consultation in disease interventions for cases and contacts. Assists in coordination and investigation of disease outbreaks.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Epidemiology and its application to public health.

  • Knowledge of surveillance systems, research methodology, and data analysis.

  • Knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries and disease.

  • Ability to communicate clearly.

  • Ability to solve problems.

  • Ability to implement practices.

  • Ability to gather information for decision-making.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum:

  • Successfully complete 500/501 HIV Counseling and Testing class within 3 months of hire.

    Preferred:

  • A current and valid driver's license.
