The Public Works Department is actively seeking a Traffic Engineering Administration Manager.

This position reports directly to the Chief of Traffic Engineering. The primary function of this position is to oversee and coordinate the complex and broad variety of administrative procurement and operational support functions throughout the division including:

Examples of Work

  • Prioritizes incoming daily urgency matters and tasks and communicates with the Chief on outstanding action items and results.

  • Coordinates and assists in the development of electronic and written materials for Division reports, PowerPoint presentations, and status updates on traffic projects and timelines and budget.

  • Coordinates procurement and contract work in progress with management personnel of other sections in the City, permitting, procurement and budget and finance.

  • Schedules, assigns, monitors, reviews, and evaluates the work in the division as assigned by the Chief and preparation and maintenance of administrative records, files, and reports including extensive data research and data maintenance for all traffic engineering.

  • Maintains records and up to date information on the condition of traffic projects, and mot plans with reports and other tracking of preventive and ongoing projects throughout the division.

  • Coordinates the fiscal, personnel, purchasing, inventory control, and related administrative functions for the entire Division.

  • Schedules, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff and oversees work in Jaxpro, along with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Assist in Traffic Engineering annual and strategic planning process with preparations of reports and data analytics prepared for the Chief and other inter-department personnel consisting of vendor activity, PWTE expenditures, CARE ticket analysis and trends, and other fiscal reporting data and planning input.

  • Scheduling appointments, composing and typing correspondence, responding to inquiries from city council and public residents, maintaining records and files, and interaction with other COJ departments.

  • Operates a computer using word processing, spreadsheets and related software applications including Maximo, Jaxpro, Microsoft Office applications and the C.A.R.E. system.

  • Manages database of traffic signal maintenance items.

  • A nine (9) year combination of education and experience in budget preparation, contract compliance and other finance related duties such as accounts payable or, executive assistant - required.
