Job Description:

We are seeking professionals with a diverse range of skills and experiences to join our dynamic team for donor-funded Water Resources Technical Assistance to the Lesotho’s Department of Water (DWA) under the Institutional Reform Activity which is part of the Market-Driven Irrigated Horticulture (MDIH). This position(s) will be based in Maseru, Lesotho, with anticipated minor local travel within the country.

The primary objective of this activity is to support DWA in addressing the mandate implementation challenges, within the framework of the proposed Water Resources Management Act, and to develop Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs) for each of the three main catchments in Lesotho; the Mohokare, Senqu, and Makhaleng.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, Masters degree preferred

• Professional registration in the relevant field preferred

• 15 or more years of overall experience in relevant field, with

• 5 or more years of experience at a senior level working on large infrastructure projects, engaging with contractors, stakeholders, and communities, including women and vulnerable populations, serving as a liaison, and managing social and gender-related risks

• Demonstrated ability to work productively as a member of multi-disciplinary teams in a rural development context with a focus on modernization of water management.

• Knowledge or familiarity with Lesotho water resources demonstrated through at least one project is desirable.

• Prior relevant experience in the Southern African region;

• Experience in Lesotho is preferred including knowledge or familiarity with Lesotho tribal and rural cultural environments

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

• Experience on multilateral and bilateral donor-funded projects (MCC, USAID, World Bank, etc.)
